Dayna (Cole) Wong graduated from PCHS in 2006. She currently resides on the Big Island and owns two businesses, Naupaka Services LLC and Naupaka Events & Weddings. Naupaka Services LLC provides virtual executive administrative support to local businesses. Naupaka Events & Weddings specializes in day-of coordination services along with event management and collaboration.
What type of training/education is appropriate for this position?
A degree in event planning or business administration would be beneficial for these jobs. However, my degrees are in hotel and restaurant management along with tourism operations.
What is one piece of advice you would give to current high school students?
The first jobs you have will help you build up to your dream career even if it's indirectly related. Always take whatever opportunities you can to learn from each job no matter how small or mundane it may seem. Don't be afraid to set high goals for yourself.
What is one thing you wished you knew about your career while you were still in high school?
I wish I knew that owning my own business is an option. By utilizing my past education and job opportunities, I would be able to build a business of my own.
You can accomplish anything you put your mind to. Learn from mentors and peers to help guide you through years after high school. Even when you're having a bad day, always be professional in the workplace and do the best you can. Be on time and work hard. When it's time to move to a different job, be sure to separate from your current one professionally (provide correct and proper notice).
