Jana Yamamoto '98

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints/Facility Management Administrative Assistant

Jana graduated from PCHS in 1998. She still lives in Pearl City and works for her church’s facilities management department.

What type of training/education is appropriate for this position?

I have a business degree and it has helped with the managing side of the work, but there is a Facilities Management degree.

What is one piece of advice you would give to current high school students?

Don’t be afraid to try various paths that could ultimately help get to where you want to go. For example if you want to be a manager, you cannot always start there. You may have to start in HR or Accounting or other departments that will help make you a better manager later.

What is one thing you wished you knew about your career while you were still in high school?

Other Advice/Information

It’s okay if you don’t know. Take the time to try out different areas. Consider more than how much money you will make. Also think about how much school you will need, how much you will have to work later, if you want a family, etc. That may be a factor of what you decide on.
