While it is possible to gain understanding and training on the job, a formal education will provide fundamental knowledge that will be relevant in any industry. Treat every person you encounter, student, teacher, administrator, even custodian, with respect, even if you have a disagreement. You never know when your paths may cross again or when you may rely on someone in the future.

What is one thing you wished you knew about your career while you were still in high school?

I would have liked to learn about office etiquette while in school, such as ethical issues and human resources. I relied on my employer to learn these skills.

Other Advice/Information

When you can give, give. It isn't necessarily money, but often your time, advice or a listening ear is the most important to someone else.
